All about the 22nd edition of the largest European popular music festival
 
The twenty-second edition of the Taranta Night Festival will end on August 24 with the final concert in Melpignano. The festival, directed by Luigi Chiriatti, sees the Italian popular culture as the protagonist and has the aims to promote and reactivate the network between the different territories respecting cultural identities and environmental sustainability.
 
At the base of the entire event Notte della Taranta, a narrative structure ready to tell the past prefiguring the future with new and different languages ??to broaden cultural horizons. Not only tourism and music, but the exaltation of values ??and certainties ready to weave strategies and collaborations between popular cultures.
 
Born in 1998, it is the largest popular music festival in Italy and, like every year, it is ready to welcome around 100,000 spectators, eager to have fun dancing to the typical Salento tambourines. In this edition rock stars and artists of different musical genres will take turns on the stage of Melpignano.
In fact, Salento's music merge with new and different musical languages ??such as world music, rock and jazz to reach even symphonic music. Ludovico Einaudi, Goran Bregovic, Stewart Copeland, Andrea Mirò, are just some of the names of the main artists involved in the previous editions.
 
The night of August 24th, broadcast live starting at 10.30pm on Rai2 and RaiRadio2, will be directed by the conductor Fabio Mastrangelo, accompanied by the Popular Orchestra. Exceptional guests of the magical night will be Elisa with the rapper Guè Pequeno. The dancers will be choreographed by Davide Bombana. The official t-shirt is signed by the designer Cruciani.
 
But how to get to the stage ready to welcome tambourines and artists? For the occasion two parking areas have been arranged in the industrial area of ??Melpignano, one in the north and one in the south and here you can easily reserve a parking space. Buses and trains will also increase travel and connections with the main local stations.
