Troia guided tour
The city of Troia was founded in the XI century on the ancient ruins of the Roman city Aecae, in turn born on an antique Dauno settlement. It became a Municipium during the Roman Empire and an important cross-roads on the via Appia-Traiana.
The itinerary includes, in addition to a walk into the old town that overlooks the Monti Dauni, a visit to the amazing Romanesque Cathedral, among the most beautiful churches in Puglia, that is also influenced by the Pisan Romanesque. This church is considered one the greatest Apulian masterpieces for its proportions, harmony and artistic examples such as the rose window and the bronze door.
