Day 1 - Lecce
Independent arrival in Lecce. Check-in B&B (or 3-star hotel) in the historic center. (2 nights)
Day 2 - Lecce
Breakfast and 10 am meeting with a local tour guide in Piazza Sant'Oronzo. From here you will begin to discover Lecce with a walking tour that will make you discover one of the most fascinating and elegant cities of southern Italy. The characteristic streets of the historic center host wonderful palaces and churches built in Baroque style, which here take on a local connotation, in fact it is called "Barocco di Lecce" because the decorations are made with local stones and not gold, come to other places. Walking, it will be possible to observe the masters of the papier-mâché who control their sculptures.
Lunch and afternoon free.
Day 3 - Monopoli, Alberobello
Breakfast and check-out until to 11am. Departure from Lecce station to Monopoli by train (after 11.00 am). Arrival in Monopoli and check-in in B&B in the historical center. At 3.00 pm you will find a minivan waiting for you, waiting for you to visit Alberobello in the company of a tour guide. The city, a UNESCO heritage site since 1996, boasts the highest concentration of trulli, typical rural stone buildings. It will be like being immersed in a fairy tale, in a fairy city, unique in the world. Your guide will accompany you to discover the two historic districts and the Trullo church. At the end of the visit you will taste typical local products. At 7.00 pm return to Monopoli. (overnight stay 1 night)
Day 4 - Bari
Breakfast and check-out. Departure from Monopoli station by train to Bari. Arrival and check in or luggage storage (in B&B or 3 star hotel). In the afternoon a tour guide will wait for you at the Swabian castle and together you will continue towards the historic center called "Bari vecchia". Here time seems to stand still: children playing on the street and women preparing "orecchiette" by hand. You will visit the Cathedral of San Sabino and the Basilica of San Nicola and the most characteristic streets. You will end the visit with a focaccia tasting. Free evening. Overnight in Bari in the city center (3 nights)
Day 5 - Trani, Castel del Monte
Breakfast and departure in the morning around 9.30 am by train to Trani. At the station a bike-rickshaw will wait for you with a guide who will lead you to the discovery of the "pearl of the Adriatic". On board the rickshaw it will be possible to admire the Swabian Castle, commissioned by Emperor Frederick II and the famous Apulian Romanesque Cathedral by the sea. You will then enter the Jewish quarter "La Giudecca" where there is a 12th century synagogue. At the end you'll reach by car Castel del Monte, a UNESCO site and one of the most fascinating and mysterious places in Puglia. Guided tour inside making a jump in the past in the Middle Ages, when the emperor Frederick II, called "Stupor mundi" commissioned the construction of this fascinating and mysterious fortress. At the end of the afternoon you will be taken back to Trani station for the return to Bari by train. Free evening. Overnight in Bari
Day 6 - Matera
Breakfast and at 9.00 am you will meet a minivan for the transfer to Matera. At 10.30 you will meet the guide to start the guided tour from one of the most fascinating cities of Southern Italy, UNESCO site and European Capital of Culture 2019. You will start from Piazza Vittorio Veneto where you will find the most beautiful view of the Sassi and from where you can see alleys intertwine with each other. You will continue to discover the two oldest neighborhoods "Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso" and the cathedral from which you can admire the Murgia Materana Park, characterized by caves and Mediterranean bush. The historic center of Matera is also present by the presence of cave churches and cave houses, where the inhabitants lived until the beginning of the twentieth century. Meeting at 3.00 pm with the minivan for the return to Bari. Free evening and overnight stay.
Day 7 - Bari
